1937-2023

 

John Allen Sampy, Sr. was called home by the Lord on May 9, 2023, at the age of 85 years old. 

John Allen was born on August 9, 1937, in Carencro, Louisiana to Paul and Lillian Sampy. On June 4, 1960, John married Audrey Carmouche. Together they moved to Houston, Texas, and were blessed with 3 children, John Jr., Adriene, and Velinda.

John retired from the City of Houston and Houston Independent School District. He was an active member of Our Lady of Assumption CatholicChurch in Carencro, Louisiana in his youth and a former Knight of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Houston, Texas during his adulthood.

John was predeceased in death by his wife, Audrey (Carmouche); his father, Paul Sampy, Sr.; his mother, Lillian Sampy (Sias); his brothers, Lionel"Bay bay" (Alice), Dolan "Cujnan" (Loretta), Sterling, Joseph, Loggis (Yola). and Jesse; his sisters, Vina, Enola Constantine (John), Emelda Thomas(Roger), and Nelsey Colwell.

John is survived by his brother, Paul Sampy, Jr.; his sister, Hilda Turner (Walter); his children, John, Ir., Adriene (Duane), and Velinda (Bennie); hisgrandchildren, Damien and LaTonya; his great-grandchildren, Darryl, Ill "Tré", Audrey Rose "Rosey", and Hazelle "Zelle"; his bonus grandchildrenhe cared for in his home, Chris, Rebecca, Devlin, Darius, Jamilla, Joshua, Carina, Deadriene, and Geneshia; and so many of his beloved nieces,nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

We will always remember his infectious laughter, his hard work, givingsoul, and loving spirit. He was our family's patriarch, provider, and protector and he will remain forever in our hearts and with our spirits.May God bless his soul and he finally rest easy.
