Travis was blessed with his father's energetic and competitive athletic abilities, while Sarah was blessed with his quiet and shy, caring and listening ways. Both kids grew up as the best, pure, never getting into trouble, adults as well. They are wonderful. Johnny grew up on a street where there were many boys right around the same age playing games, laughing, and having a great time. All...

John Thomas Wilson passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
John was born on November 25, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Robert George Wilson and Myrtle Afton Park. He graduated from Granger High School and later joined the United States Army. John proudly served for 3 years, he was a private first class. He received an honorable discharge and was awarded the national defense service medal and the sharpshooter badge.
John was a loving husband, father, and devoted family man. He is survived by his wife, Elena Fail Wilson; his kids Travis (Silva) Wilson, Sarah Wilson, Wendy (Dave) Segelke, Nikki (Danny) Stilinovich, Jodi (Justin) Smith, and Mike (Trina) Eyre; and his brothers, Robert James Wilson and Charles Dell Wilson.
John was a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren: Kimber Ellis, Oakley (Huck) Ellis, Brody Ellis, Sadie (Tufan Nasir) Stilinovich, Shyan (Dalton Hardy) Stilinovich, Wyatt Stilinovich, Witnee Stilinovich, Parker Smith, Morgan Smith, Madison Smith, Tanner Eyre, Gracie Eyre, Waylon Hardy, Grayson Hardy, and Adalynn Hardy.
John retired in 2019 from Hexcel as a Process Lead after dedicating more than 30 years of service to the company.
His interests included sports, and he was a devoted supporter of the Utah Jazz and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved laughing with friends and family and always found joy in watching the kids’ and their shenanigans. His first love was golf, and his second love was Elena. If you ever asked him where he was going, the answer was almost always the same—the golf course. He left us too soon but probably needed some peace and quiet after hanging out with our loud family for 30 years.
He will be missed more than words can say, but the unique laugh and memories he shared will stay with us always. I hope you are enjoying your tee time in heaven, John, I can imagine it’s the most beautiful golf course you’ve ever played.
Preceded in death by both parents Robert and Afton Wilson, Sister Nancy Afton and Ron Holmes, Sister-in-law Kathy Wilson and Grandson Dacoda Ellis.
His Services will be at Broomhead Mortuary on 12600 South 2200 West Riverton, Utah. There will be a viewing Friday, January 16, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 pm and a viewing before the service on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 10:00-10:45 am.
