Brother Johnnie Ray Hunter was born April 30, 1961 in Halifax County to the late Sidney Hunter Sr. and Dorothy P. Hunter.Johnnie Ray received his education from Halifax County Public Schools. Johnnie Ray was a loving brother, uncle, friend of the community and dedicated church member.
Johnnie Ray loved everybody that he came in contact with and he would tell you “I am praying for you and I love you!”
Johnnie Ray Hunter has joined his parents Sidney and Dorothy Hunter; and sisters, VernaMae Hunter and Theresa Ann Pinkette.
Johnnie Ray leaves to cherish his memories with three brothers, Sidney Hunter Jr. of Enfield, NC, Jerry Hunter of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Mack Donald Hunter (Tayndra) of Bakersfield, CA; three sisters, Thelma Bryant of Enfield, NC, Ruby Daniel (John), of Enfield, NC, Gleen Gary of Rocky Mount, NC; two brothers-in-law, Elbert Solomon of Enfield. NC and Jonathon Pinkette of Chestertown, MD; one sister-in-law, Renee’ Hunter of Bakersfield, CA; special nephew, Shelt Dogg of the home; special brother-in-law, Pee Willis Poke; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends that he held dear to his heart.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Greater Saints Chapel Baptist Church, 5411 Ringwood Road, Enfield, North Carolina. Burial followed in the Greater Saints Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. A Public Viewing was held one hour prior to the funeral service from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm.
