I’ve heard many great stories about Johnny from his granddaughter. Prayers for this precious family!

He was such a good man & knew how to make you laugh! Rest in peace Johnny, you will be missed by many. Prayers for his wife & family! The only comfort is knowing he’s with the Lord & his daughter; what a reunion that is!

DUFFIELD, VA – JOHNNY RAY AMBURGEY, AGE 76

Johnny Ray Amburgey, age 76 of Duffield, VA went to be with the Lord on September 17, 2025. He was born in Duffield, VA on August 6, 1949 to the late Martha Bowen and Ernest Clayton Amburgey. Mr. Amburgey was retired from Asplundh Tree Service and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Trina Cook; brother, Marion Amburgey; sister, Peggy Dulin; and nephew, Cecil Dulin.

Johnny is survived by his wife and soulmate of 53 years, Claudia Amburgey; son, Johnny Amburgey; 3 grandchildren, Kristin Hamilton (Josh), Emily Marion (Zach) and Lillian Fuson; 4 great-grandchildren, River Marion, Trina Karr, Jaxon Hamilton and Rextyn Marion; 4 sisters, Shirley Roach (Tom), Bett Renfro, Mary Roach (Henry) and Dora Amburgey; 2 brothers, Kenny Amburgey (Betty) and Bob Amburgey (Robin); special nephew, Jeff Baker; along with several other nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends at the home of Mary and Henry Roach, 1275 Cliff Mountain Way, Duffield, VA on Friday, September 19, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the family and friends that have supported and helped.
