With the deepest sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Johnny Pacheco, who left this world on December 4th, 2025, at 65 years old. Born on June 7th, 1960, to Mercedes A. Grant and Joe L. Pacheco, Johnny was not just a son or a brother; he was the heartbeat of so many of our memories, the quiet strength in our hardest moments, and the warmth we all leaned on more times than we can count.
Johnny is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Mercedes and Joe, and his siblings, Lydia Tafoya, Leroy Pacheco, Gino Pacheco, and Betty Pacheco. As a family, we find comfort imagining him surrounded by their love again—laughing, singing, smiling that familiar smile, and finally finding the peace he always deserved.
He leaves behind his sisters Fran Aguirre and Lina Cruz, his brother David Joe Pacheco, and his brother-in-law Robert Cruz, who all loved him beyond words. To us, Johnny was more than a brother. He was our steady place. Our storyteller. Our helper. Our comfort. He had a way of showing love without needing to say the words—through the things he did, the way he showed up, and the way he lifted us when life felt too heavy.
Johnny was the kind of man who would drop everything if you needed him. Whether you were family, a lifelong friend, or someone going through a hard moment, he would be there—no judgment, no hesitation. That was Johnny’s heart: big, generous, and honest.
Some of Johnny’s happiest memories were spent with a cold Budweiser in one hand and a pony of Jim Beam Fire nearby, listening to his brothers sing and play guitar. Those nights—full of music, laughter, and love—were the moments where he felt most himself. Those moments, those sounds, those smiles… that was home for him. And now, we imagine him right back there, with his brothers, the music playing once again.
Losing Johnny has left a space in our family that can never be filled. But we know his spirit is still with us—in the laughs that sneak out when we remember something he said, in the songs that remind us of him, in the memories that feel like they happened just yesterday, and in the love he gave so freely.
We will forever carry Johnny in our hearts, in our stories, and in the way we continue to show up for one another—just like he always did.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be on December 27, 2025, at 10:00 am in the Sister Hildegard Parish Hall, recited by Judy Ledoux, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am with Father Trieu as the celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery.
Our family would also like to give a very special thank you to Eloy Brazil and his family for their kindness, support, and love. Your help through these difficult days will never be forgotten.
