Mr. Johnny Bevan Richardson, 74, husband of Barbara Collins Richardson, of Marion, passed away peacefully following a brief illness, at his residence, with his loving wife, son and daughter-in-law, by his side during the evening of Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Johnny, a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather, was born on March 23, 1951, in Marion County, South Carolina. Johnny was the son of the late Robert Richardson and the late Sarah Richardson. Johnny grew up in the Marion community, where he gained his education, served in the South Carolina National Guard, started a family, and earned a living with DuPont, where he retired following thirty-eight years of service with the company. Johnny loved his family, his devotion to them ran deep, and he would shower them with that love every time they spent time with each other. He was an avid University of South Carolina Gamecock fan. Through the ups and downs, his blood ran garnet and black and forever to thee. Mr. Johnny enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially time spent in the mountains and on the beach. Mr. Richardson was a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, and served on the building and grounds committee.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Barbara Collins Richardson, of the home; his son, John C. Richardson and his wife, Jenn, of Marion; his granddaughter, Kaitlyn; and his brother, Charles Richardson of Simpsonville.
A graveside service for Mr. Johnny will be held Thursday morning, February 5, at 11:00 A.M. in the Little Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Reverend Travis Leasure officiating, and directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
The family will speak with friends following the service there at the cemetery. A guestbook for Mr. Richardson is available on our website, and our Facebook page is open for those wishing to leave kind words for Mr. Johnny’s family during this difficult time.
