David & I often talked about how much we enjoyed Christmas Parties at BT you kept us in stitches with your humor!!!

Johnny was loved by so many he made all smile around him. May his memory live on and his family find strength to endure this pain.

To Pam and family I know he is not suffering anymore but he put forth a good fight. His funny and bright humor will always be with us. He was one of a kind! Will miss him dearly.

Johnny 's Obituaries

Johnny Lewis Thurman, Jr., 61, currently of Lexington, husband of Pam Scott Thurman, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at the U. K. Medical Center in Lexington. Born July 11, 1957 in Lawrenceburg, KY, Johnny was the son of the late Alice Pearl Bixler and Johnnie Lewis Thurman, Sr.

Including his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by a grandchild, Kamryn Thurman.

A native of Lawrenceburg and former resident of Woodford County, Johnny was a former employee of Osram Sylvania in Versailles and served his country in the U.S. Army. He was baptized in the Second Christian Church in Lawrenceburg. Johnny was known for his love of talking, singing, cooking, working on cars, and his love of the University of Louisville sports.

Along with his wife Pam, Johnny is survived by his children, Johnny Thurman III of Lexington, Scotty Ellis of Frankfort, Robert Thurman of Shelbyville, LeKeshia Thurman of Lexington, Joshua (Tera) Thurman of Lexington, Renee Newcomb of Georgetown, Katlynn Thurman of Frankfort; 21 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his siblings, Donna Haliburton, Jeffrey Bixler, Natalie Thurman, April (Minister George) Wilson, Buretta L. Thurman, Lori, Gina, Cindy, Johnathan, and Marshale Thurman, and Craig Hudson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 Wednesday, Sept. 26th at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27th beginning at 10:30 AM at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Rev. Ramon Smith will officiate the service. Burial with military honors will be held on Thursday following the services at at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County, KY.

Memorials in memory of Johnny are suggested to the U.K. Markey Cancer Center, 800 Rose St., Room #140, Lexington, KY 40536.
