We were saddened to hear of Jonas passing. We first met him when he was wanting to sell his farm. He was always so pleasant and a good sense of humor. Condolences to Dana, his children and extended family. May he rest in peace. Always remembered and never forgotten.

Sure going to miss this brother in Christ,loved being around him,always made you laugh,great person to be around and loved his family with all his heart

Jonas's Obituary

Jonas B. Hostetler of Gandeeville, WV, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Charleston General Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was 70 years old.

Born on June 10, 1955, in Chardon, Ohio, Jonas was the son of the late Benjamin J. and Viola (Miller) Hostetler.

Jonas was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose humor and lively spirit brought laughter to everyone around him. A true jack of many trades, he could fix nearly anything and took great pride in working on his farm, woodworking, and hunting. Above all, he will be remembered for the deep love he had for his family and friends and the joy he shared so freely.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Dana Hostetler; his siblings, Sylvia Bontrager, Maryann Hostetler, Rudy (Martha) Hostetler, Emma Raber, and Monroe (Ronda) Hostetler. He is also survived by his children, Scott (Amy) Duncan, Heather Chiccarino, David (Jason) Annecy, Erin Holdsworth, and Kristen (Doug) Holdsworth, Julie (Mike) Miller, Jonathan (Courtney) Neer, Jason (May) Neer; 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin J. and Viola (Miller) Hostetler; his siblings, Mahlon Hostetler, Dan Hostetler, Benjamin Hostetler Jr., and John Hostetler; and two infant siblings, Ervin and Susan Hostetler.

Calling hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, 406 Market Street, Spencer, WV. A graveside service and interment will follow at Ferrell Cemetery, 502 Vicars Ridge, Gandeeville, WV. 

The family welcomes you to join them afterward at The Chapel Church, 102 Chapman Avenue, Spencer, WV 25276, for light food and refreshments.
