Jose F. Amat

José F. Amat, 83, of Wethersfield, CT, beloved husband of Caridad (Ortiz) Amat, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at HarborChase in South Windsor. José was born in Camagüey, Cuba, and was the son of the late Dr. José and Ana (Arámbula) Amat. A dedicated research and development scientist, José focused his career as an analytical chemist in the water, food, and beverage industries, finally retiring from Heublein, Inc. (Diageo) after nearly 30 years of service. José was an accomplished woodcarver as well as bonsai artist, showing his creative works at many area shows.

Besides his dearly loved wife Caridad, José is survived by his two sons, Joseph Amat and his wife Patricia of Glastonbury, CT; Francis Amat and his wife Lisa of Wethersfield, CT; his daughter Marina Amat Conran and her husband Gregory of Leesburg, VA; his five grandchildren Christine, Joseph, Samantha, Alexander, and Catarina; and his great-grandson Xyon Ramsey. José was predeceased by his brother Deacon Emiliano Amat.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 10 a.m. at The Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Wethersfield, CT. There are no calling hours.
