Jose's Obituary

Jose Antonio Gonzalez, better known as “Pochi,” 72, of West Hartford, CT, passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 10, 2026, after a difficult battle with cancer.

Pochi was born on November 16, 1953, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, to Ramon Gonzalez and Tomasa Gonzalez Rivera.

In 1975, Pochi met Narcisa Correa, better known as “Sisa,” in a historic 18-acre apartment community in the West End of Hartford, CT. They fell in love almost instantly, and although they were not lifelong romantic partners, they remained deeply committed to one another, prioritizing their love for their three children: Jose Antonio Gonzalez Jr. “Pochito,” Melissa Gonzalez, and Enrique Gonzalez. He also helped raise his beloved grandson, Joseph Medina Jr., following the passing of his daughter Melissa. His legacy of love continues through his other grandchildren, Aiden Gonzalez and Alayna Gonzalez, the children of his youngest son, Enrique, and daughter-in-law, Charity Gonzalez.

Pochi was a force of nature. Those who knew him best called him “Batman.” He was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he believed they deserved. His family meant everything to him. A hardworking and self-employed landscaper, he proudly served his local community for many years.

Anyone who knew Pochi knew he was a loving father and a loyal friend—someone you could always count on. He was predeceased by his father, Ramon Gonzalez, and his brother Ramon Gonzalez Jr. He is survived by his mother, Tomasa Gonzalez Rivera, and his siblings Rosa Maria Moquette Gonzalez, Jose Juan Gonzalez, Luz Delia Gonzalez, Maria De Los Angeles Gonzalez, Roberto Gonzalez, Maria Del Carmen Rojas Gonzalez.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the BROOKLAWN Funeral Home, 511 Brook St. Rocky Hill, CT. His final farewell will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 12 noon at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield, CT, where his ashes will be laid to rest alongside his beloved daughter, Melissa Gonzalez.

The family requests that all flowers and condolences be sent to Brooklawn Funeral Home, 511 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT.
