Paw, you were like a daddy to me. We didn't talk much, and I seemed closer to maw I did love you too. You and maw were always there for me, even when I didn't deserve it. You were an honest and strong man. I looked up to you. I still remember you dressing me for school and getting me ready, or yanking on the beer can while you was in chair sleeping, to see if I could take it out your hand without waking you up so you wouldn't spill. I love you paw. You and maw are together now. RIP

New Iberia - Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Joseph Delahoussaye, Sr., 84, who passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, in New Iberia.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Thursday.
Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.
Rev. Keith Landry will be the Officiant.
A lifelong area resident, Joseph J.C. Delahoussaye, Sr. was born on March 30, 1933, and was a retired truck driver who enjoyed fishing with hoop nets and gill nets in his younger years. He also enjoyed mechanical work, and tending to his chickens, ducks, and vegetable garden.
Mr. Delahoussaye is survived by sons, Joseph "Boy" Delahoussaye, Jr. and wife Janet, Wade Delahoussaye, Sr. and wife Tanya, and Dwight Delahoussaye, all of New Iberia; daughter, Sedonia Delahoussaye Boutte of New Iberia; brother, Vernick Delahoussaye of Loreauville; two half-brothers, Arthur Touchet, Jr. and Kojak Delahoussaye; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wyva Delahoussaye; and his parents, Olite Gary Touchet and Arthur Touchet, Sr.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Joseph Delahoussaye III, Joel Delahoussaye, Wade Delahoussaye Jr., Devin Delahoussaye, Dylan Dylahoussaye, and Jordan Delahoussaye.
