Joseph Dobrinski, 78, a lifelong resident of Van Voorhis, died Sunday, March 3, 2024 in the Haven Crest Nursing Center, Monongahela, He was born December 6, 1945 in Van Voorhis, the son of the late Frank T. and Anna Susick Dobrinski.
Joseph was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Monongahela. He was employed at US Steel Clairton Works for 37 years. After his retirement, he taught welding at CCAC and Mon Valley CTC. He owned and operated the Van Voorhis Tavern with his wife for several years.
He was an avid outdoorsman and member of the Independent Mountain Men in Emlenton. Joseph was an excellent gun builder with one of his specialties being muzzle loaders. He was an awesome guitar player and singer, and a motorcycle enthusiast. His passion in life was his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Doty Dobrinski, with whom he celebrated 44 years of marriage on November 11, 2023; four sons, John (Mika) Protz of Uncasville, Connecticut, Joseph (Kimberly) Dobrinski, Jr. of Seminole, Florida; James Protz of Dunlevy, Anthony (Stephanie) Dobrinski of Malden; daughter, Jodi (Joe) Bruno of Fallowfield Township; eleven grandchildren, Nathan Protz, Nikki (Ryan) McNair, Ilena (Jeff) Bain, Jason (Eileen) Dobrinski, Michael (Andrea Segar) Dobrinski, twins, Josie and Jamie Protz, Tyler Dobrinski, Allison Dobrinski, Anthony Bruno, Giovani Bruno; five great grandchildren, Emma Tighe, Wyatt Lendermon, Clara Dobrinski, Alana McNair, Carter McNair; brother, Frank (Judy) Dobrinski of Scenery Hill; two sisters, Patricia Corbett of Van Voorhis, Karen (Mike) Opalinski of Fallowfield Township.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Raymond DiCamillo officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Nazarene, 206 Tenth Street, Monongahela, PA 15063.
