My condolences to the family and friends of Joe. Joe was a USS MILLER(DE-1091) brother. I am happy that I was able to see him again after so many years at our last reunion. Peace be with you Joe and your family.

Tom Stark, Rocky Rupert, Joe and I were the founding members of the USS FF 1091 "Miller Band" in 1973. We put the band together 4 years ago at the ship re-union.

I shall miss Joe, his heart and love for the song. God Bless You Joe to you next journey.

Joseph's Obituary

Joseph Dolard Hamel Jr., 60, of Wallingford, passed Wednesday, November 5, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, at Midstate Medical Center. He was born in Waterbury, June 15, 1954, a son of the late Joseph D. Hamel Sr., and Patricia Neagle Hamel. He was U.S. Navy Veteran and had been employed by United Illuminating Co. for over 20 years. Joe was an avid reader and music lover. His favorite band was the The Beatles and he was the guitarist in the band The Noizy Boyz.He had a great sense of humor, he loved The Patriots. Most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Jacque' "JP" Hamel & her fiance Alex Pagan, Joseph "Goob" D. Hamel III, and Justin Mailhot & his wife Elizabeth; his grandchildren, Scarlett and Willow Pagan. His siblings and in-laws, Patricia (Mrs. Robert) Hartline, Karen & Julian Kryzanowsky, Christopher Hamel, Jane and Michael Demusis, Carolyn Hamel, and Noelene and Brian Peterson; his beloved and dearest friend Michael Walsh and many nieces and nephews. His family will receive relatives and friends in The Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., in the Yalesville section of Wallingford, on Sunday November 9, 2014, from 2 to 5 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 am directly at Yalesville United Methodist Church, 8 New Place St. Yalesville. Interment with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to Smilow Cancer Center, Closer to Free. P.O.
