I was blessed to have met, known, & befriended Joe, who was a resident at Salem Haven, where my own mother has resided since last February. Joe was loved by all the residents & staff -- and fortunately for everyone else -- he gladly participated in a variety of residents' social activities. Joe re-introduced me to the fine points of playing cribbage, which was an honor for me, since I noticed his proudly-worn cribbage championship pin that he recently won at the nearby Salem Senior Center....

Joseph J.'s Obituary

Joseph J. Carvello, 92, of Salem, NH passed away Monday, October 12th at the Genesis Health Care Center in Laconia, NH. He was born in Lawrence, MA, son of the late Joseph S. and Emma (Perry) Carvello. Mr. Carvello was educated in the local schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1942. He worked in maintenance for Raytheon in Lowell, MA. Mr. Carvello proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and had served as an attendant and member for 60 years at Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem.He is survived by his daughter in law; Barbara Carvello of Laconia, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and also by several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his wife; Mary L. (Sousa) Carvello, his son; Alan J. Carvello and by his sister; Eileen Taylor.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00pm noon on Friday, October 16th at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd., Salem.
