To Diane and Joey's family,
We send our love and our condolences to all of you. Joey's Dad, Joe, was my Mom (Jane Koget Shiffman's) Brother. So Joey was my cousin. We didn't really spend much time together, but that was age and distance. All I can contribute as a memory and a tribute to Joey, is that for my "growing up Years," the family always said I was "as skinny as a String Bean, just like Joey Koget." I love that. And the fact that only now did I realize we were both Libras....

Joseph's Obituary

Joseph J. Koget, 73, of Monongahela, died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in the Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born October 6, 1944 in New Eagle, a son of the late Joseph Frank and Ruth B. Jericho Koget. Joe retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, working a total of thirty nine years at the Allenport Plant and in Yorkville, Ohio where he was a plant manager. After retirement, he was the owner and operator of the J&D Dollar Store in the Indiana Mall. After closing the store, he worked as a security guard at Westinghouse in Madison. Joe was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish (Transfiguration Church) in Monongahela and the Charleroi B.P.O. Elks Lodge #494. He was a star bowler and enjoyed bowling in leagues at Star Lanes in Monessen and Brunswick 51 Lanes in Rostraver. He loved spending his time fishing at Raystown Lake and playing golf. He is survived by his wife Diane Moore Koget with whom he celebrated forty seven years of marriage on May 16, 2017; two daughters, Jodie and Cynthia Koget, both at home; grandson, Tyler Cummings; granddaughter, Gianna Koget-Waddell; sister, Marlene and husband Tom Thorpe of Monessen; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dwayne Koget. Friends will be received on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held on Monday, November 20 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Robert Hanna officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330.
