Not sure what to say?

Being Joe’s neighbor for 34 years and in the last handful of years became much closer in friendship due to my job change. I had the privilege and pleasure to spend time with him before work and whenever I would see him sitting on his porch swing making sure all was well on our street. I will miss him greatly and our small town , our street, lost a hero whom my family and I loved. RIP JOE, FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

You all have our deepest sympathy! We all grew up together in Browntown. Joe was our best man and Jeri was my matron of honor in our wedding. Jeri was my best friend growing up. May you all feel the comfort and strength of the Lord in this time of sorrow. God bless you all! ❤

Joe & I grew up together in Browntown. Him on 2nd Ave & me on 1st Ave. We lost track of each other in our later years but I look back with many fond memories. My condolences to the family.

Joe’s Family have my Condolences

Deepest Sympathy to Joe's family.

Joseph's Obituary

Joseph R. Loucks Jr,

79 of Scottdale passed away at 11:37 AM Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Independence Health System’s Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. Joe was born on June 26, 1946 in Mount Pleasant, a son of the late Joseph R. Loucks Sr. and Evelyn (Hawkins) Loucks. He married Jeri Lynn (Roberts) Loucks on December 26, 970 and together they built a lifetime of love and family. Jeri, his beloved wife, passed away on October 30, 2012.

Affectionately known to many as “Pap Joe”, Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a proud veteran and a loyal member and past officer of the Scottdale American Legion #240. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a Private First Class and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Expert M14 Rifle Badge. Joe was a man of quiet strength, known for his easygoing nature, and warm spirit who could often be found on his porch swing; happy to talk with anyone who stopped by. He had a passion for trains and people watching along with a remarkable talent for woodworking and crafting. Above all, Joe was a storyteller and there was always something new to learn from him.

Joe will be deeply missed by his loving family; his four children, Rebecca Luft, Angela Swaney (Ron), Brenda Ohr (Chad), and Joseph R. Loucks III; his four grandchildren, Shane Dodd (Nicole), Julianna Ohr, MacKenzie Ohr, and Madelyn Mason;  his great granddaughter, Meadow Dodd; his sister, Marie Lint; his two half-brothers, Wes Hawkins (Mary Kay) and Keith Hawkins (Candy); and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. Additionally as an animal lover, Joe will be missed by his loyal canine and feline buddies, Luna Bella, Butch, and Journey.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET, SCOTTDALE (www.fergusonfunerals.com).
