New London, NH Joseph James (Jim) Mitza, 83 of New London passed away at home, with his wife and daughter by his side, on October 2, 2022. Jim was surrounded by wife, sons, daughter, and grandchildren during his final days.
Jim was born on June 15, 1939 in Lowell, MA to Margaret and Joseph Mitza. eHe was raised and educated in Billerica, MA.
During his life, he was employed by Tabby Cat Food, Lipton Tea, and Newton Bayard in various capacities. He used the skills he learned in his corporate capacities to serve him in his purchases and operation of his rental real estate. While he had limited high school education, Jim was extremely successful in managing his own rental properties.
Jim was an avid fan of his children’s sports. His love for baseball lead him to coach Little League for several years. Later in life, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. Jim’s pride and joy were his children, and then ultimately his grandchildren. He never let a moment with his family go by without offering his love, hugs, and kisses.
Jim was very independent and loved to always keep busy with projects, including painting, building, mowing lawns, and restoring a few Model A Fords. In 2005, he and Denise moved to Kentucky and had a small horse farm. He loved working the farm and had his own herd of ducks. His wish was that Kentucky would be his forever home. His ashes will be spread on the Kentucky farm at a later date.
Jim had a love for his dogs; there was always a dog at his side or by his feet. He was well known for sneaking food to them from the dinner table.
Jim is survived by his wife Denise Mitza of New London; son Jeff Mitza and his wife Lauren of Windham, NH; son Eric Mitza and his wife Kerry of Tyngsboro, MA; daughter Sarah Christie and her husband Mathew of Newbury, NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren Brett, Bob, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Riley, Alex, Tucker, Kaisa, and Kennedy. He is predeceased by his parents.
Jim is also survived by Laurie Irwin and Julie McCarthy, both of Billerica, MA.
There will be no service or calling hours. There will be a Celebration of his life on Sunday November 13, 2022 from 12-4PM at the Appleseed Restaurant in Bradford, NH
