JOSEPH V. ROBB

DECEMBER 30, 1957 - JANUARY 7, 2026

Lifelong Mayfair resident Joseph V. Robb passed away quietly Jan. 7 surrounded by his family.

Joe overcame a rough start in elementary school at a time when dyslexia was mistaken for a behavioral issue. He found success at Abraham Lincoln High School though as the student producer of the school’s musical productions, and as a student in the electric shop.

In addition to being a member of the Drama Club, he also swam on the Swim Team and spent a few summers  in the ‘70s as a lifeguard for the Pennypack Park Swim Club.

After high school he attended Thaddeus Stevens School of Technology where he studied to be an electrician, a vocation he would practice for more than 40 years. He had happy memories of his time at Stevens and would later serve as an unofficial recruiter for the school, telling anyone with uncertain career ambitions how positively the school affected his life.

He also enjoyed several summers teaching high schoolers basic electric theory, giving kids hands-on experience making circuit switches.

Though a dutiful brother who would help out his siblings and friends with home wiring, or automotive fixes, his real joy came from being a devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews. Always quick with ‘dad jokes,’ he never paused when asked to babysit or come along on trips to playgrounds, swimming pools and school musicals.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents L. Joseph and Jean.Joe will be missed by his siblings Marie (Ken), James, Catherine (Edward), Stephen (Kelli), and John (Susan), a dozen nieces and nephews, and three grand nephews and a grand niece

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joe's Memorial Gathering Tuesday January 13, 2026 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at THE EDWARD J PETNER FUNERAL HOME 6421 Frankford Ave Phila PA 19135. Christian Burial Service 12:00 PM . Burial Private
