Joseph Washington was born on Wednesday, January 10, 1951 to the late Estelle Washington Bennett and Sham Ladson in Holly Hill, South Carolina and he entered eternal rest in Bronx, New York on November 29, 2021.

Joseph was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County, receiving primary education at St. James Elementary in Eutawville, South Carolina and secondary education at Morris High School, Bronx, New York.  

Joseph attended St James Missionary Baptist Church, Eutawville, South Carolina and Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Eutawville, South Carolina at an early age while living with his grandparents Minnie and Rev. Isaac Washington and Great Aunt Catherine Lucille Collier. 

At the age of eight years old, Joseph moved to the Bronx NY and lived with his mother Estelle and brother Johnny on Hoe and Tremont Avenues, Bronx, New York. He also lived and worked in Boston, MA for ten plus years until he returned to the Bronx. In the Bronx he was employed with several companies until illness forced his retirement. He resided in The Brook, 455 East 148th St., Bronx, NY until he entered eternal rest.

Joeseph was a great fan of the baseball team the Detroit Tigers and the football team the Detroit Lions; and didn’t let anyone talk bad about his teams.

Joseph was preceded in death by parents, Estelle Washington Bennett and Sham Ladson and brother Johnny Washington.

Joseph leaves to mourn and carry-on his sweet memories daughter Krishonda “Krissy” Washington of Bronx, New York and son Joshua Washington of Tampa, Florida; sister Michelle Thorne of Somerset, New Jersey; brother Rodney H. Bennett Jr. of Bronx, New York; two grandsons Kahmel Washington and Emanuel Davis Jr. of Bronx, New York; family patriarch and Great Uncle Paul J. Washington, of Holly Hill, South Carolina; cousin Willie Collier of North Charleton, South Carolina; a very special friend Ernestine Bush; in-laws, Roberta Davis and Ruby Fields of Bronx, NewYork and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
