Josh's Obituary

Josh Boyd, III, 54, of Sikeston, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at the Sikeston Convalescent Center. He was born in Sikeston, MO to Josh Boyd, Jr. and the late Barbara A. Boyd.

Josh was a military brat who moved from state to state with his family as his father, Josh Boyd, Jr., was in the United States Army. Josh loved to play basketball or anything outside. He loved his Sunday football watching his favorite team, the Pittsburg Steelers, when he was not being a workaholic in his down time. He would play with his dog, Lylah Belle. Josh was a natural protector as he always looked out for family and friends. He never met a stranger, and he would talk to anyone about anything. He was a natural conversationalist. Josh returned to Sikeston and set forth his life journey as being known as a loyal, trustworthy, hard working man in the community. He worked at Lamberts Café in his early young adult moving on to Applebees, and discovering his love for driving took his career to the next level graduating from Southern Missouri Truck Driving School. He was a certified truck driver in Sikeston, Missouri. He went on to drive for Troy Hart Farms, TNI, Clay Lape Farms, Crop Production Services, and Pioneer Hi-Bred, which is where he was working when he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer and had to stop working. His favorite type of truck to drive was the Hopper Bottom Truck. Josh enjoyed his music, his dog, his cigarettes, his lawnmower, and a cold beer on any given day. He attended Blodgett Community Church in Blodgett, MO.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara A. Boyd, on January 3, 2021.

In addition to his father, Josh Boyd, Jr., he is survived by three children: Jalani Boyd of Arkansas, Jatifah Boyd-Worthing of Fort Bliss,Texas, and Kobi Thompson of Blodgett, Missouri; three grandchildren: Jatorah, Juilian, and Jelani; three sisters: Queena Boyd, Michaela Boyd, and Joshlynn Boyd; two brothers: Justin Boyd and Jory Boyd; seven nieces and nephews: Mochae Nash, Quinton Nash, Justin Boyd, Jr., Jory Boyd, Jr., Aiden Lofland and Amelia Lofland. Josh Boyd, III shared 20 years of his life with the “Love of his life”, Deani Hurst, of Blodgett, Missouri. He has entrusted here on earth a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends to spread wisdom, protect, guide, and love to his cherished bloodline.

A memorial celebration of life will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Driver Funeral Service Chapel, 523 West Murray Lane, Sikeston, MO beginning at noon.
