Juan's Obituary

Juan de la Cruz Mayssonet

March 12, 1950 - August 5, 2025

Juan de la Cruz Mayssonet, of Lincoln Park, Michigan, passed away on August 5, 2025,  after a courageous battle with ALS, surrounded by love.

Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, on March 12, 1950, and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey.  Juan lived a vibrant and adventurous life, marked by curiosity, creativity, and deep devotion to his family.

He proudly served in the United States Army as a commissioned officer before building a long and successful career at Bell Labs AT&T, retiring as a Computer Scientist.  Never one to stop learning, Juan went on to earn a Juris Doctorate and became an Attorney.

Juan loved adventure, whether it was spontaneous drives to the city, riding motorcycles, or dancing the night away. He was a skilled pilot, had an incredible green thumb, and approached every challenge as an opportunity for a project.  Known for his resourcefulness, he could "McGyver" just about anything.  He delighted in live music, and his lifelong learning inspired those around him.

Above all, Juan was a loving father and husband.  He is survived by his devoted wife, Renee; son Emilio; daughter Aixa; son Eric and his wife Rose (and their daughters Isabella and Jewel); and son Juan (and his sons Owen and Nolan) ; and extended family and dear friends.

Juan touched the lives of many. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

A visitation will be held on August 15th, from 9:00am - 11:00am with the funeral service beginning at 11:00am.  Military honors and burial will follow at 2:30pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.

In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made in Juan's memory to the ALS Association at http://als.org
