Judith's Obituary

Judith R. “Judy” Hoffman, 91, of Cando, ND, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Towner County Living Center in Cando, ND.  Services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando, ND. Burial will be at the Rolette Cemetery in Rolette, ND in the spring. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.

Judy Hoffman was born on September 20, 1934, to Carl and A. Louise (Peer) Olson at Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was raised and attended school in Munich and Rolla, N.D., graduating from Rolla High School. Judy married Bill Hoffman on August 2, 1953, at Rolla. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Devils Lake and Rolla, moving to Cando in

1960. Judy began working for Towner County as Registrar of Deeds, Clerk and Recorder and County Judge in 1964 and retired as Registrar of Deeds and Clerk of Courts in 1997. She served on the State Board of Clerk of Courts and the Cando Lutheran Church Council. Judy also sang with the Cando Community Chorus. Judy and Bill started Hoffman Tree Service in 1962 and she worked with Bill in that business until his death in 2006. She was a member of the Cando Lutheran Church and was an avid snowmobiler.

Judy is survived by her children: Carla Campbell of Butte, Mont.; Tim (Julie) Hoffman of Bottineau, N.D., and Tom (Sara) Hoffman of Benson, Minn. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, infant twins, her parents, her son-in-law Carl and her sister Janice.
