Judy Carol Somers Koop, 75, of Appalachia, VA passed away at her home on October 2, 2025. Judy was born on June 21, 1950, in Holden, WV, the daughter of the late Thomas Hunter Somers and Jettie Edith Mullins Somers. Judy was also preceded in death by her sister, Alice Mae Somers and her brother, Thomas Joseph Somers.
Survivors include her husband, David Koop; her daughters, Amy (Richard) Graley, Judy "Georgie" (Kevin) Horne; her son, William (Maria) Eldridge; her grandchildren, Shane (Leigha) Eldridge, Brent (Angela) Eldridge, Haley (David) Frymyer, Nicholas Graley, Jonathan Graley, Paige Harris, Logan Koop, Ryan Horne, Isaac Horne and Abby Horne; her great-grandchildren, Kaysen Harris, Kayden Eldridge, Kaylee Eldridge, Brentlee Eldridge, Rahlee Eldridge, Kenzlee Eldridge, and Colton Frymyer. Judy also leaves behind a host of other loving family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home chapel beginning at 1 PM. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 11 AM - 1 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Mullins Cemetery at Dix Fork, KY with Richard, Kevin, Kayden, Brent, David and Shane serving as pallbearers. R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, Ky serving the Koop family.
