June Spence, age 76, of Florala, passed away on January 1, 2026. She was born in Live Oak, Florida, the daughter of Benjamin Lindsey and Linda Miller.
June began her working career as a receptionist in the local textile industries in Florala, at Franklin Ferguson, and Sweats. After many years of dedicated work, she continued her education and returned to school, earning her nursing degree. She then served for 25 years as a nurse at the Chautauqua Nursing Facility in DeFuniak Springs.
June was admired for her dedication, kindness, and attention to detail in the care of her patients. Her coworkers respected her as a dependable, hardworking nurse who could always be counted on.
Outside of her profession, June found great joy in horseback riding and caring for her horses. Her beloved dog, Mia, was a constant and cherished companion.
Family was at the heart of June’s life. She deeply loved her family and especially treasured time with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Granny,” a name that reflected the love and bond they shared.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Spence, and by her father, Benjamin Lindsay.
She is survived by her mother, Linda Reeves; her son, Michael Lindsey; her daughter, Tiffany Reeves, and husband John; her sister, Wanda Reeves; and her grandchildren, Dylan Reeves and Lilly Anne Reeves.
A celebration of life service for June Spence will be announced later by Evans Funeral Home.
