Karl R. Veevaete, age 92 of Mishawaka, IN, died at 3:10 am on Tuesday morning, November 18, 2025, at Raclin House, Center for Hospice Care, Mishawaka. Karl was born on September 11, 1933 in Mishawaka to Rene and Lora (Klein) Veevaete. He was a 1951 graduate of Madison High School. On April 12, 1953, Karl married Janet Elaine Berkey at the Tamarack United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on September 4, 2025. Karl was a farmer all of his life. He first worked on his father’s farm and then, starting in 1957, farmed his own land. He loved to farm, it was his livelihood and he embodied the hard-working farmer. He especially enjoyed time spent working on the farm with family. He loved to share his work with nieces, nephews, cousins, church kids and neighbors. In his free time, Karl enjoyed woodworking and playing cards with family and friends. In the winter months, he enjoyed putting together jig saw puzzles to pass the time. Above all else, Karl was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his 3 children: Elaine Kay Veevaete, Beverly Diane Veevaete, and Michael Allen Veevaete, all of Mishawaka and 2 siblings: Evelyn (Claude) Pierce of Mishawaka and John (Marcie-Miller) Veevaete of Mt. Vernon, IN. Karl was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a sister, Kathryn Veevaete-Watkins. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Friday, November 21, 2025, with a funeral service starting at 11 am, all at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa, IN. Pastor JoAn Schaetzle will officiate and burial will take place in Olive West Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Karls’s name can be given to St. John’s United Church of Christ in Woodland.
