Katherine Nannette Eilers, age 93 of Nappanee, IN, passed away peacefully, Sunday morning March 15, 2026 at the Waters of Wakarusa. Katherine was born on September 8, 1932 in Mishawaka, IN to Devon and Leatha (Longfield) Troxel. She was a 1949 Nappanee High School graduate and lived most of her life in the Nappanee area. On October 8, 1952, Katherine married Ed Eilers in Nappanee. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2015. Katherine attended St. Isadore Catholic Church in Nappanee, where she played the organ, until it’s closing, and then attended St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Bremen. She had worked for NIA and Crown Industries. She enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband Ed and spending winters in Florida. Above all else, Katherine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She especially loved doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Katherine is survived by 5 children: Brian (Debbie) Eilers of Syracuse, IN, Michelle Metzler of Hobart, WI, Cindy Eilers of Nappanee, Susan (Keith) Plake of Wellston, MI, and Theresa (Randy) Ramer of Goshen; 9 grandchildren: Travis Metzler, Zeb Metzler, Amy Shepherd, Stacy Gunter, April (Tony) Miller, Jamie (Matt) Rensberger, Alicia (Nate) Frye, Bethany (Cody) Burkholder, and Melissa (Hunter) Reece; 14 great grandchildren; and a sister, Sharon (Clyde) Moore of Elkhart, IN. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 3 brothers: Richard, Jim and Ron Troxel. Visitation will be held from Noon-2pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at St. Dominic Catholic Church with a funeral Mass beginning at 2pm. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery. Memorial Contributions in Katherine’s name can be given to The American Heart Association, Dunes Hospice, or the Nappanee American Legion Post #154.
