Katherine Tarczewski

Katherine Tarczewski, 95, of East Brunswick, formerly of Spotswood, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in Plainsboro, surrounded by her loving family.Born and raised in New York City, Kate lived in South River and Spotswood for 75 years before settling in East Brunswick eight years ago. Kate was a lifelong seamstress retiring from the former South River Coat Company in 1982, a position she held from the age of sixteen. She was a long-time communicant of St. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church of South River. She enjoyed her weekly lunch club and playing bingo with her friends at Sunrise Assisted Living, where she lived for the past 8 years. Before that, she enjoyed shopping trips with her late sister, Pauline, who she was always with and, spending time with all of her grandchildren and cooking Sunday Dinners.Predeceased by her husband, Alex, in 1970, her son, Kenneth, Sr. in 2003, her siblings, John Simoskevitz and Pauline Ostrowski and, a grandson, Kenneth II, she is survived by her daughter, Patricia DeStefano and her husband Dan, of Monroe Twp.; a step-brother, Walter Pesetsky; a step-sister, Pinky Kolesar, and; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.Funeral services will begin at 9:00 AM on Monday morning from Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood, followed by a 10:00 AM Liturgy from St. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, South River. Committal will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, East Brunswick. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
