Kathleen "Katie"'s Obituary

Kathleen "Katie" (Bell) Zehrbach, 85, of Solon, died Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Private family services will be held at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.Survivors include her husband, Richard "Reid"; daughter, Nancy Zehrbach and her husband Lawrence Weider of Norman, OK; three sons, David (Mickey) Zehrbach of Phoenix, AZ, John (Marla) Zehrbach of Cedar Rapids, and Thomas (Dawn) Zehrbach of Lakewood, CO; five grandsons, Craig, Kyle and Nicholas Zehrbach, and Thomas and Paul Weider, her cousin, Nancy Jane Dawley, and many nephews and nieces.Katie was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Bell.Katie was born on January 31, 1930 in Logan, Ohio, the daughter of John and Susie Flowers Bell, and married Reid Zehrbach on June 8, 1952 in Lancaster, OH. She was a registered nurse and worked in the OB-GYN department at the St. Luke's Hospital and University of Iowa. Katie took great pride in using her nursing skills to help mothers and their newborns.Katie enjoyed spending time with her family and shared her love of reading with her grandchildren. She liked puzzles and games, listening to music, trying new foods, attending musicals and plays, and watching the many birds that frequented the nearby bird feeders that Reid hung. Katie also delighted in traveling with Reid all over the world and throughout the United States. Their favorite trips together were visiting Hawaii to hear original music and the New England states to view the beautiful fall colors.Memorials may be directed to Teahen Funeral Home for the Salvation Army and the Logan, Ohio Student fund.
