Kathleen "Kathy" Meyer of Lemont, IL, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, a few days after her 82nd birthday. Kathy is survived by her son Keith Benson (Jody), her 8 grandchildren James, Brooke, Ryan, Christian, Chad, Caleb, Micaelyn and Caiden as well as 3 great grandchildren Reed, Nova and Everest "Evie". Kathy is preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Meyer, her loving son Christopher "Chris" Benson, and her brother Charles "Chuck" Nichols.
Born in Romeoville, Kathy resided in Morris and eventually raised her family in Lemont. She proudly worked for The Shopper newspaper and Apollo Steakhouse, where Kathy met her adoring husband, Bill. To say "she loved to laugh" is an understatement. And nothing made her laugh more than phoning Bill at work, only to hear him say, "Kathy who?" in the background. And so her "Kathy who" nickname was born.
Kathy lived with passion. She believed gardening was therapeutic. She traveled to beaches like Sanibel Island with Bill, collecting hundreds of seashells along the way, which complimented her many lighthouse decorations at home. She loved to spoil her grandbabies and her dogs with love, toys and "treatsies". Anyone who knew Kathy was well aware of her endless generosity and her infectious smile; she had an inner light that filled every room. And she left a mark on this world nobody could ever forget.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.C. 108 E. Illinois St, Lemont, IL. A private funeral service for immediate family will be held on Tuesday morning.
