i met kay a couple of years ago i ejoyed giving her hugs and giving her a ride to her room.. she was a fighter so sweet and strong in her spirit she blessed me and my life is better just because i met kay.

I am very sorry to learn that Kay has passed away. i worked with Kay in Rockford for more than 20 years. She and I played volleyball and softball together. She was a much more talented athlete than me. We genuinely had a lot of fun times together. Kay was a dear friend and godmother to my son Mike. I am sorry for your loss and hope that knowing how much she meant to others is comforting to you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss. As a fellow classmate of hers, I remember her wonderful smile and that she always seems to be very upbeat, always positive, and friendly. The last time I saw her was a class reunion several years ago and it was like nothing had changed since high school. She was still the nice person I had always remembered her to be. I am very sorry to hear of Kay's passing. She and I attended school in Sublette and then Amboy. I moved to Sublette in 5 th grade and Kay was my first crush there, but she liked another guy much better. We did compete against each other in math. I will always have fond memories of Kay. She was the first girl I ever danced fast with back in high school.
I pray that her family is comforted in this very sad time.

Kay L. Kromm, 68 of Mendota died September 30, 2017 in St. Anne Center, Rockford.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday in the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Compton with Rev. Jeff Schlesinger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., to time of services on Tuesday in the church. The Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling the arrangements.
Kay was born July 28, 1949 in Mendota to Delbert and Helen (Schlesinger) Kromm.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Compton. She was a 1967 graduate of Amboy High School and a 1971 graduate of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. She was employed as a purchasing agent by Sundstrand Corp. in Rockford before her retirement. She enjoyed sporting events, playing cards and bingo.
She is survived by one brother, Kim (Cathy) Kromm of Amboy; 2 nieces and 5 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents.
