Not sure what to say?

Kay was a beautiful lady inside and out. Remember her well from CHS and Sweet Adelines. It was sad when she and Jim moved away. Much sympathy to the family and friends.

We went to school together.
She was always full of fun.
RIP. Kay

Kay's Obituary

Kay (Seaman) Mollenkopf

Kay Mollenkopf, a long-time resident of Sebring, Florida passed away peacefully at Good Sheperd Hospice on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 after a brief illness. Kay was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Bob and Marilyn Seaman in 1942. The family moved to Coldwater, Michigan after WWII and Kay graduated from Coldwater High School in the Class of 1960. She particularly loved to sing and perform, a passion that would lead to years of competing with the Sweet Adelines barbershop choir from Coldwater. It was during her high school years that she fell in love with her soul mate, Jim, while teaching him how to dance on her parents’ front porch as a 9th grader. She and Jim Mollenkopf, also of Coldwater, married in 1964 and they resided in Tennessee and Wisconsin before moving back to Coldwater to help run the family business, Seaman Office Supply. She was also an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Coldwater for many years and sang in the choir.

Kay and Jim welcomed two daughters, Christine and Kimberly, during their lifetime together. It was Kay’s love of books and learning that made her a role model for her children and grandchildren. She earned degrees in Emergency Medical Technician, Nursing, and finally her master’s degree from Western Michigan University. She spent her professional life taking care of others as a nurse and then as an administrator with Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, Michigan and with the Highlands County, Florida Health Department.

In her last years, she battled with multiple health conditions that limited her ability to travel and to get out of the house much. Despite physical challenges, she stayed busy every day with her puzzles, books, and she loved to watch movies and discuss literature with her grandson Nicholas. Scooby Doo cartoons were her favorite as she was a huge dog lover, and she leaves behind her beloved Sophie who was her constant companion.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Marilyn Seaman, her in-laws Dale and Daisy Mollenkopf, her sister-in-law Marjorie Burk, and her son-in-law Bret Pigsley. Left behind to mourn her loss are her husband Jim Mollenkopf, daughters Christine Mollenkopf Pigsley, and Kimberly Harrington and son-in-law Scott.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Lauren Pigsley, Drew Pigsley, Nicholas Mollenkopf, and Olivia Pigsley. She was loved by many who were family of choice rather than of blood, including Rebecca Noel.

No funeral service will be held at this time, and an internment ceremony will be held at a future date.
