Kelvin Foster
August 7, 1961 – August 16, 2025
Kelvin Foster was born on August 7, 1961, to the late Howard R. Foster and Barbara L. (Taliafero) Foster in Hampton, VA. He answered the Master’s call at his home in Hampton on August 16, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Barbara Foster; siblings Shirley Northcutt, Connie Foster, Ronald Foster, Larry Foster, and Eric Foster; and nephews Lee and Craig Northcutt, Santonio Garrett, and DeQuan Studwell.
Kelvin was educated in Hampton Public Schools and spent most of his adult life as a skilled brick mason. A true craftsman, his work can be seen throughout Hampton Roads and beyond, often taking him to projects in other states.
Kelvin had a sharp sense of style and loved to dress well—often in pressed dress pants, crisp white shirts, a tie, polished shoes, and, of course, one of his signature hats. Although he never married or had children of his own, Kelvin loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own.
Family was at the center of his life. Known as the “grill master,” he was always behind the grill at cookouts and never missed a family gathering. He had a witty sense of humor, a clever mind, and a remarkable ability to stay active and engaged. In his younger years, Kelvin even studied law so diligently that he successfully represented himself in court—and won.
Those left to cherish his memory include his twin brother Kym Foster (Barbara), Howard Foster Jr. (Diane), Barry Foster, and Dale Foster (Trina); sisters Donna Perry (Aubrey) and Sherry Watson (Albert); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of lifelong friends and colleagues.
