Kenneth Ray Dalton, age 92, of Carleton, Michigan, went home to be with his Lord, on Saturday August 23, 2025, at The Gardens of Carleton.
Kenneth was born March 18, 1933, in St. Francis, Arkansas. He was the son of Herschell and Valerie (Vaughn) Dalton. He married (Edna) Lenora Hughes in 1951 in St. Francis and they were married for 72 wonderful years. They were blessed with three children, Michael, Douglas and Annette. They lived for several years of their married life in a home that he built for his family in New Boston and more recently they lived in Carleton.
Nothing was more important to Kenneth than his faith and his family. He was a long-time member of Beacon Baptist Church in Taylor, where he enjoyed attending services and serving in various areas including serving as a Deacon and also as a Sunday School teacher.
Kenneth was employed at the New York Central and later as a machine repairman at Ford Woodhaven Stamping Plant, retiring in 1997.
Kenneth loved to travel with his wife and other relatives and church friends. They traveled to the Holy Land three times, and also to Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Hawaii and several other states.
During his retirement years, he enjoyed restoring a 1930 Model A Ford Coupe and a 1942 GPW Military Jeep. He was a kind man who was a wonderful husband and a loving father, father-in-law, grandpa and great-papa. His cheerful nature and sometimes humorous words of wisdom will be greatly missed.
Kenneth leaves behind to cherish his memory his children: Michael (Terri) of Carleton; Douglas (Pamela) of Belleville and Annette (Keith) Locklear of Tuttle, OK; his sister: Eva (Millard) Winningham of Melvindale; his grandchildren: Eric Dalton of Flat Rock; Carrie (Kevin) Furmanek of LaSalle, Ontario, Canada; Jennifer Dalton of Belleville; Nicole Dalton (David DeRousse) of Kalamazoo; Ryan (Jill) Locklear of Newcastle, OK; and Chris Locklear of Oklahoma City, OK; his great-grandchildren:
Evan and Avery Dalton; Courtney and Carter Furmanek; Emma, Levi, Anna and Cole Locklear; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother James Dalton and sister Maxine Tanner.
Special appreciation is expressed to the staff at The Gardens of Carleton who cared for him this past year and to Heart to Heart Hospice who provided compassionate care for his final days.
