Kenneth Jon Klatt stepped into eternity with Jesus Christ his Savior from the VA Hospice Cottages on November 30, 2025, at the age of 85. Born May 8, 1940, in Mitchell, SD, he was the son of Kenneth Klatt and Evalyn (Gardeman) Klatt.
Jon was a dedicated husband, Dad, and Pepe`. He will be remembered for his gentle, loving heart.Jon graduated from Tripp High School, Class of 1958, and went on to graduate from Northern State College in 1962. He served in the Army from 1962 thru 1964. He began his banking career in 1965 in Minneapolis, MN, then on to Englewood Bank in Englewood, Fla. In 1979 he returned to Tripp, SD, to follow in his father’s footsteps as president of Dakota State Bank, which in later years became First State Bank. He retired after 38 years in banking in 2003.
Jon was a passionate outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing, and in his younger years loved spending time off-road motorcycle riding.He cherished spending time with his children and his beloved wife. They enjoyed the Black Hills, Florida, and many other excursions as a family.Pepe`’s greatest joy was investing love and time into his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary Catherine (Dignam) Klatt; his children, Timothy J. Kelly (Claris), Rapid City, SD; Kenneth J. Klatt Jr., Thomasville, GA; Sarah Catherine Kramer (Daniel), Sioux Falls, SD; William Ryan Klatt, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter-in-law Olga V. Klatt, Sioux Falls, SD; his grandchildren, Ty Kelly, Bend, OR; Brianna (Austin) Kilene, Berthold, ND; Joseph (Jessi) Kelly, Sioux Falls, SD; Peter Klatt, Sioux Falls, SD; Hannah (Lucas) Steever, Sioux Falls, SD; Nathan (Meghan) Kramer, Sioux Falls, SD; Mary Kate Kramer, Sioux Falls, SD; Grace Kramer, Sioux Falls, SD; his great-grandchildren, Eliora, Lianna, Elle, Ezra, Thea, Claire, Daniel, and Nora; his brother, L. Rand (Bonita) Klatt, Sioux Falls, SD; and sister, Jill (Ed) Lyons, Green Valley, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Central Church in the Oakwood Chapel. Family will be available for visiting at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be served. Burial services will be at 1 p.m. at the SD Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alpha Center or the Children’s Home Society here in Sioux Falls.
