Not sure what to say?

Gerald was such a nice friend and neighbor for our family for many years. Such great memories of family and church gatherings on many occasions. He is someone that you will never forget and have fond memories of.

Thoughts and prayers of peace and comfort to Diana, Lynn and Cynthia and their beautiful families.

Kenneth's Obituary

Kenneth “Gerald” Kearns, 96, of West Columbia, WV, went home to be with Jesus, March 15, 2026, at Emogene Dolin Hospice House, Huntington WV.

He was born August 20, 1929, in Hartford WV.  A son of the late Delmas and Genevieve (Powell) Kearns.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Emma Lee (Turley) Kearns; brothers Charles (Charlie) Kearns, Harry (Kearny) Kearns; and sister, Bernice Smith.

He was a graduate of Wahama High School, member of First Baptist Church, Mason, WV and a retired coal miner of Southern Ohio Coal Company Meigs Mine No 2.  Throughout his adult life he was always active in church and serving the Lord by teaching, singing, or leading church services.  He enjoyed gardening and his absolute favorite was tending to his grass.  His grandchildren, and later great grandchildren, brought him so much joy.   We take great comfort that he is reunited with his wife and other loved ones in Heaven.

Survivors include his daughters, Dianna J (Joey) Roush of New Haven, WV, Lynn (Kelly) Hawk of Letart, WV, and Cynthia (Brad) Smith of West Columbia, WV.  Grandchildren, Aaron Eades, Amber Darst, Derek Hawk, Kodi Hawk, Jordan Smith, Olivia Bond, and Elijah Smith; several great and great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Carrie Kennedy and Linda Stewart for their wonderful care and support.

A graveside service will be 11:30 a.m.~ March 20, 2026, at Zerkle Cemetery in Letart, WV (Gibbstown Community) with Pastor Donnie Dye officiating. Arrangements provided by Foglesong-Casto Funeral Home, Mason, WV.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Emogene Dolin Hospice House. P.O. Box 464 Huntington, WV 25709
