Before being inducted into the United States Army, he worked at the Mallard Produce, Midwest Limestone, and with Kenneth Stafford on the farm.
Kenneth had his basic training, then was stationed at For Binning, Georgia, for more schooling and ended up in the Boston area for a year and a half. Kenneth married Dorothy Stafford on February 28, 1954, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mallard. He was honorably discharged from the Army on December 9, 1955.
He and Dorothy lived in Mallard until his dad died in 1960 and they moved to the Lyon farm five and a half miles west of Mallard. Kenneth and Dorothy had four children, Kathryn (May 24, 1957), Timothy (January 3, 1959), Terry (April 10, 1960), and Theodore (October 11, 1962). Kenneth farmed the land while working for Stan Darling and soon was employed by M & JR Haskes at Laurens. He worked there for 32 years before retiring. During this time, he and the family enjoyed camping trips and going to a ranch in Colorado. He and Dorothy also took a trip on the motorcycle to Nashville, Tennessee after the kids were grown up. During his retirement, Kenneth enjoyed having a big garden and a flower garden. In 2007, he sold the acreage on the farm and bought a house in Mallard.
