Kenneth's Obituary

    Mr. Kenneth Benjamin Swanson age 77 of Moccasin Creek Rd. Murphy passed away peacefully on Thursday August 21, 2025 in the University Of Tennessee Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Swanson was born on October 27, 1947 in Murphy, NC., the son of the late William Cleveland Swanson and the late Martha Jane Rhyder Swanson. He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. Kenneth was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War. He loved baseball, football and reading his Bible. He was a loving father, brother and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Faye “Susie” Tanner Swanson in 2021, five brothers, Windell, Harvey, Bill, Verlin and Willis Swanson, four sisters, Dot Summitt, Susie Clark, Ruth Fowler and Ellavee Blue. Mr. Swanson was of the Baptist faith.

   Surviving Mr. Swanson are one son and daughter in law, Chris and Stephanie Swanson of Murphy, two sisters, Emma Tanner and Martha Jane Tanner both of Murphy, five grandchildren, Maria, Precious, Matthew, Taryn and Tyler, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

   Funeral services will be held on Monday August 25, 2025 at 3:00 pm at the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Lee Tanner officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Aaron Freeman, Jeremy Swanson, Dean Smith, Timmy Tanner, Nathan Tanner and Brent Adams. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Smith, Marvin Adams, Johnny Beavers and Chris Beavers. Interment will follow in the Bellview Community Cemetery where he will rest with his beloved wife Susie. The North GA Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors.The family will meet with friends at the  funeral home on Monday from 1:30-3:00 pm.
