Kenneth Wayne Thompson:
Kenneth Wayne Thompson was born in Houston, Texas on July 12, 1943. At just 17 years old, Kenneth began his service in the United States Navy, dedicating four years to his country before returning to Houston after his honorable discharge.
Kenneth started his professional life as a machinist but soon felt drawn to public service. He joined the Department of Public Safety (DPS), where he spent over 28 years as a Trooper, ultimately retiring at the rank of sergeant. Retirement brought Kenneth and his family to Huntsville, where they settled on a home by the Trinity River. For 20 years, Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the peace of retirement.
Shortly thereafter, he pursued a new career with Walker County as an Investigator for the Prosecutor’s Office. Kenneth thrived in this role, embracing the challenge of uncovering evidence and supporting court cases with dedication and skill.
Kenneth’s love of community was evident in his annual portrayal of Santa Claus for various occasions—a role he cherished for the joy it brought to others.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his father Oscar Delee Thompson, mother Girtrue Nona Thompson, and his sister Wynell Willis.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Beverly Ann Thompson;
