Kent Phillips

Theron Kent Phillips, 77, of Middleport formerly of Athens went to his heavenly home,  Monday morning, 23rd of March 2026.  He was born in Sheltering Arms Hospital in Athens the 26th of January 1949.  He is the son of Elizabeth Carsey Phillips of Athens and the late Stacy V. Phillips.

Kent was a life member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He grew up in New Boston, Ohio.  After his schooling, his last years were working for the United Nations in Jerusalem and Cyprus.  After returning to the United States, he retired from Verizon Telephone Company.

Kent is survived by his wife, Lorraine Byington Phillips; his daughter, Kendra (James) Gettles; a granddaughter, Quinn Gettels; a sister Kristie (Ron) Riffle; a brother Kevin (Emma) Phillips; a niece, Stacey (Jim) Boumis and their child, Dimitri Boumis; and a nephew, David (Leanne) Phillips.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 7795 Lemaster Rd., The Plains.  Friends may call Saturday 12:00 noon until time of service at the church.  Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.  Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.
