Kent “KT” Thomas, affectionally known as “Cockeye Country Boy,” was born on August 16,1956 in Montgomery County, Georgia to the late John Thomas Sr. and Estella Thomas.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Willie C. Thomas and Rufus Wiggins.
Kent departed this earthly world, from a tedious journey, on July 5, 2025, at Memorial Health Meadows in Vidalia after a brief illness.
Kent attended school in the Montgomery County School System. He was a very “Skillful and Hardworking” man. A man of many trades and skills, he devoted his life to farm work, working as a forklift operator, and as a lumper. However, his life’s passion was driving trucks which he did for over 20 years. His passion for driving trucks was passed down to his son and grandsons. Kent loved his family, fishing (catfish), watching the Atlanta Braves, and meeting other retirees at T-Byrd’s in the morning to drink coffee and talk. But most importantly, he loved helping his Montgomery County Community by being their personal UBER driver. Kent joined Mount Moriah Baptist Church as a young boy but later enjoyed fellowshipping at New Vision Baptist Church with his family.
Kent leaves countless joyful and unforgettable memories for his family and friends. He is survived by his one and only daughter, Stephanie (James) Mainer and two sons, Willie (Ebony)Thomas and Timothy (Ashisha) Williams. Kent was blessed with eleven grandchildren: Shae Singleton, Greg Singleton Jr, Macobia Phillips, Shacobia Phillips, Aurion Mitchell, Kyare Conaway, Christian Williams, Sha’moria Thomas, Ny’giria Williams,Anthony “AJ” Thomas and Dereion “DJ”Gainer. He was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren: Cornelius Mobley III, Bricen Singleton, Zenobia Rollins, Zymoria Butler, Legend Phillips, Maddox Singleton, McKinley Phillips, Kieran Phillips, Greston Singleton and Kaire McKinney. Kent is survived by five siblings: John Thomas Jr., Herbert (Teneka)Thomas, Elease Thomas, Christine Adams, and Roy (Eugenia) Thomas. He also leaves behind A Special Friend, Sherry “Gail” Madison and two Children in Love, Christopher Gillis and Abbigale Madison. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
