Dr Packo was truly a man for his patients. They were his multitude of friends and not forgotten. My husband was his patient for many years and the doctors words to him were “don’t worry, Ed, I won’t let you go blind”. Reassuring to a man who had severe macular degeneration. I just learned of Dr. Packo's passing on 2/14/2024. I and my mother were greatly saddened by this. I was a patient of Dr. Packo since the age of 9 until he retired, I am now 47 years old. My retinas were detaching and he did the laser surgeries that saved my eyesight. I will always be grateful for the knowledge and grace God blessed him with to bless others in caring for what many take for granted, the gift of eyesight. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

We just learned about Dr. Packo's passing today. Our disabled son was a patient of his for many years until he retired. We will forever be grateful for his genuine concern and patience in working with our son and his many issues. He always spoke to Michael and made sure he understood what was going to happen. Mike always wore a Notre Dame shirt when he was going to see Dr. Packo. He was always so kind to ask Mike what he thought about the Irish's chances for the football season.
