Arla, and Family. I am so sorry for your loss. I was glad that I got to meet her. She was a very nice lady. Enjoyed the Christmas lights with her last year. May she rest in peace.

Curly and Lalla were great ambassadors for square dancing. They hostedany lessons and dinners at their home. Lalla will be missed as she was a loved friend.

Lalla Steenbock, 86, of Topeka passed away on November 28, 2022 at her home. Lalla Anna Shorman was born on August 19, 1936. in Morganville, KS, the 3rd daughter and youngest child of the 6 children born to William Frederick and Lauretta Victoria Sumners Shorman. Lalla graduated from Clay County High School in 1954. On September 30, 1956 she was joined in marriage to Arvan Eugene Steenbock at Alert Covenant Church in Leonardville, KS. Their first home was in the Bala Community located in Riley County and in August of 1958 they moved to Topeka.
Lalla was a member of Shawnee Swingers Square Dance Club, Wheatheart Square Dance Club, and Roundalab. Lalla enjoyed and was proud to be the round dance cuer for the Shawnee Swingers and Wheathearts Square Dance Clubs in Topeka KS. She attended Countryside Christian Church. Her hobbies were many, with her favorites included crocheting, sewing, embroidery, cake decorating, and baking bread and cinnamon rolls.
Survivors Include her daughter Arla (Shon) Moore, Meriden KS, son Wayne Steenbock of Regina SK, grandchildren Billy (Katelynn )Moore, Seward NE, and Taryn Moore (Mat Conger), Onega KS and 7 great grandchildren. Other survivors include her sister, Jane Arents, and sister- in-laws, Barbara Shorman, Rosalie Shorman, and Carol Shorman as well as many nieces and nephews. Lalla was preceded in death by her husband Arvan, an infant daughter, her parents and siblings Don Shorman, Dwaine Shorman, Robert (Bill) Shorman, and brother-in-law, Harold Arents.
The family will be having a celebration of life from 12:00 PM to 4:00 pm on Sunday the 18th at Croco Square Dance Hall , 6115 US-40, Tecumseh KS 66542. A lunch and visitation will be held starting at noon with a service at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial contributions be made in Lalla’s memory to Croco Square Dance Hall.
