Larry K. Berkhouse, 75, of Left Hand, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2024, at Thomas Hospital, South Charleston.
He was born January 31, 1949, at Spencer, the son of the late Rome and Hazel Dye Berkhouse.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry, Paul, Charles, Bobby, Bill, Garland and Gene Berkhouse; sister, Sue Burns.
Larry served in the United States Army from 1968-1970.
He retired in 2009 from Hobet Coal Company with 30 years of service. Larry also worked for Pace Pipeline and several coal companies.
Larry was a kind, quiet, loving and hardworking man, who was always providing for his family. He adored his family, especially his granddaughter whom he called “Gwen Bug”. She was the light of his day.
He was a wonderful husband, father and papaw.
Larry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane Berkhouse; son, Brian (Tammy) Berkhouse; granddaughter, Gwen Berkhouse; brother Jack Berkhouse all of Left Hand; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024, at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Clover Cemetery, Clover.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 19 at the funeral home.
