Larry's Obituary

Mr. Larry Steadman Sr. affectionately known as “D” of Tampa passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 with his loving family members at his side. Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, October 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Exciting Central Tampa Baptist Church, 2923 N. Tampa Street, Tampa, FL with Dr. Jeffrey L. Singletary, Officiating and Rev. Cleveland Lane, Eulogist.  Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, Tampa, FL.Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Mary F. Steadman; father, John K. Steadman; sisters, Barbara Jean Steadman and Sandra Steadman-Garrett.He leaves to cherish memories of him with his sons, Larry Steadman Jr. (Shonteka), Avious Steadman (Dashonna), Antonio Steadman, Aaron Steadman, John Steadman (Jocelyn), Tre’ Steadman (Gloria); daughter, Jayla Van Dunk; grandchildren, Larry III, Ayden, Javon, Cameron, Violet, Demitrious, Krishwan, Zarius, Jordan, Avious Jr., Kaleiah, Kaniyah, La’niah and Aaron Jr; brothers, Frank Steadman Sr., Donald Steadman Sr. (Vanessa), Bernard Steadman (Rose), Andre Steadman (Kimberly) and John K. Steadman Jr.; sisters, Joyce Pendergrass and Hope Gaddis; aunt, Claressa Lovette (Milton); beloved women in his life, Vandy Streeter and Polly Pelaez; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends whom he loved and cherished.Larry Steadman Sr. was born in Washington, DC on September 1, 1954 to the parentage of John K. and Mary F. Steadman and he was raised in the Sulpher Springs community of Tampa, FL. He attended Chamberlin High School and later earned his GED. For many years he operated his own businesses from a clothing boutique to a successful landscaping and lawn maintenance service. Larry was a skilled construction worker where he would boast about the buildings he helped build in downtown Tampa. Larry was very active in the lives of his sons and grandchildren. He participated in both their school and sporting events. Larry loved sports and was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys, FSU and Philadelphia 76ers. Larry was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Everyday Larry started and ended his day with a humble prayer for daily guidance and wisdom.There will be a viewing on Friday September 30, 2016 at the Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m.
