Not sure what to say?

I feel honored and fortunate to have known Laura for a time when we
worked together at ONABEN. She was the kindest hearted, calmest, and funniest coworker. I have probably ever had. It has been 28 years I think, but I definitely hold her in a special place in my heart. What a beautiful legacy to have touched so many lives with love, humor, and grace.

Laura's Obituary

🌺 In Loving Memory of Laura Nani Nihoa 🌺 🕊️ February 2, 1959 – August 7, 2025 🕊️ Laura Nani Nihoa was a beloved sister, gifted musician, and devoted member of her community. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, she lived a life filled with creativity, service, and faith. Her journey took her from Los Angeles, CA, and Kaneohe, HI, to Fallon, Nevada, where she graduated from Churchill County High School. She later earned a degree in Bible and music from Faith Bible School in South Dakota. Laura’s career spanned roles in administration, from Western Union to serving as Executive Secretary for ONABEN in Portland, Oregon, and supporting U.S. Customs at the Portland Airport. In 2001, she returned to Fallon to care for her mother and soon became a vital part of tribal governance, serving for 12 years as Tribal Secretary on the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribal Council. A talented pianist and singer, Laura’s love of music was matched by her passion for reading and storytelling. Laura’s legacy is a testament to her quiet strength, creativity, and devotion — to her faith, her family, and her people. Her music, stories, and laughter will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Bernice Nihoa, and brothers Ermert Kalei and David Kalani. She is survived by her loving sisters, Audrey Leialoha Campbell and Iris Anuhea Nihoa. “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” — Thomas Campbell 💐 Forever in our hearts 💐
