Laura's Obituary

Laura Ann Watson, 86, of Miami, OK, passed away at her home on Sunday, October the 26th, 2025, after an extended illness.

She was born in Bakersfield, CA on November the 18th, 1938 to Jack Ratley and Juareta (Groce) Ratley.

She grew up in Madera, CA. She was a high school graduate. She also attended 3 years of college at Porterville Community College where she studied to be a Vocational Nurse. She worked in this field a number of years.

In 1966, she married Harold Watson. They agreed on four things they both wanted, Baptist faith, Democrat, their kids would come first, and to own land and cattle. She worked alongside Harold raising cattle and thoroughbred horses. She often called it the perfect life.

She worked a number of years in nursing at Sale Memorial Hospital, volunteered at the school, and was active in church. Though she led a busy life, she still made time to care for their large garden and strawberry patch. She was a member of the Mound Valley Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold; her siblings, John, Nita, and Linda; and two children, Curtis Watson and Jess Oakley.

She is survived by her children, Albert Watson of Granby, MO, Tom (Jackie) of Inman, SC, Bruce Bohnisch of Miami, OK, Michelle Bohnisch of Miami, OK, and Jara King (Thomas), of Miami, OK; 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.

The family is having a Celebration of Life at the Mound Valley Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November the 1st, 2025. Pastor Stephen Hunter will officiate.

Laura was entrusted to the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home.
