Not sure what to say?

To the family, I'm so sorry for the loss of your loved one. May the loving support of your family, friends and prayers sustain you through this very difficult time. Isaiah 57:15

My prayers are with you and your family. God's blessings be with you.

Kathy, Doug, Dan, Tammy & Sandy - our deepest sympathy in the loss of your dear mother. Pat and I have such fond memories of her - from being a second "mom", her cute giggle/laugh and most of all her internal strength. It's those types of memories, and many more that you each have, that will help you through this difficult time.

Lavonne's Obituary

Lavonne C. (Mettille) (Taylor) Mindrum, of LaCrosse, WI, died on November 10th at Mayo Health Care Center. Lavonne was born on November 27, 1932 to Eugene and Marie Mettille. She graduated from Aquinas High School in 1950. In 1952, she married Donald R. Taylor. After going through a divorce, Lavonne worked full-time while raising five young children on her own. By her example she taught them a good work ethic, persistence and determination in life. She always provided for her family’s basic needs, putting their needs above her own. She labored to purchase her own home in 1972 and lived there until she moved to a memory care facility in early 2018. She married Arne Mindrum in 1990 and together they enjoyed many hobbies together including extensive travel, researching family genealogy, and enjoyed creating stained glass projects. She was a member of the Eagles club, a lifelong registered Democrat involved in local and state politics, and a member of St. Wenceslaus and Cathedral parishes in LaCrosse.

She fought a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease for the last few years of her life. She was able to stay in her own home for an extended period of time due to the loving and devoted care and assistance of her daughter Tammy. She spent the last year of her life in an area memory care facility where she quickly become a favorite and a friend to many of the other residents. Also, special thanks go out to Cindy Mettille who was gracious enough to lovingly take care of our mother during this difficult time.

She is survived by her five children, Kathryn Spencer (Bill) of Cottage Grove, MN; Doug Taylor (Ann) of Plymouth, MN; Dan Taylor (Jeanne Watson) of Madison, WI; Tammy Larkin ( LeRoy Wilder) of LaCrosse, WI; and Sandra Fournier of Littleston, PA; 13 grandchildren, Melanie Fitchett (Jason), Amy Kemmetmueller (Kevin), Nicole Weber (Thad), Jamin Taylor (Melissa), Benjamin Taylor (Katie), Christina DiMattia, Melinda Schaitel (Wayne), Jeffrey Taylor, Heather Larkin (James English), Matthew Larkin, Matthew Fournier (Allison), Andrew Fournier, and Leah Fournier; 21 great grandchildren and a sister, Sharon Molzahn of Onalaska. Lavonne was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Marie Mettille (Kaiser), two sisters Virgina Larson and Marilyn Murray, one brother Richard Mettille, Sr., her first husband Donald Taylor and second husband Arne Mindrum; and a grandson Joshua Taylor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 14th at the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman, Marian Chapel with Monsignor Charles Stoetzel officiating. A private burial will take place in Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse; and again, on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
