I met Lawanda a couple of years ago at the Beauty Salon. Started talking and soon became friends. There was another lady at the Salon and we three became great friends. Chatting, laughing and enjoying each other’s company each week. It devastated me when I learned of her latest health issues. I’m going to miss her terribly. Lawanda's Obituary

Lawanda Faye Meyn, 87 of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at her home.  Mrs. Meyn was born in Kentucky to the late Dempsey and Dorothy Abernathy.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Meyn and sister, Delores Yant.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and George William Langley of Hillsville; grandson and spouse, Bobby and Monica Stoots of Alabama; great-granddaughters, Shelby Travis and Bethany Stoots Dean and husband, Logan all of Alabama; brother, Donald Abernathy; special cousin, Shirley Horne; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
