What a wonderful women who lived a rich life. My dad always thought very highly of Lena and enjoyed visits with her when he lived his last years in Mayville. Condolences to all her family.

Lena's Obituary

MAYVILLE- Lena Weatherlow passed away September 2, 2020.  She was born January 16, 1922 in the Town of North Harmony to Carl and Annie Imbery Rater.

     She graduated Chautauqua Central School in 1939.  During the war she worked at Art Metal and later for the Ulrich Planfiling Corp for seven years before coming to Mayville in 1950. She was a homemaker, enjoyed crafts, crocheting, and sewing. She also altered clothes for the California Accessories in Chautauqua Institution and assisted friends with sewing.

     She was a 70-year member and past Master of Stedman Grange also 50-year member of Pomona Grange (5th degree). She had been a member of the NYS Federation of Home Bureau, the Northern Belles Chapter, and a member of the Mayville United Methodist Church. Lena worked several years as an election inspector for the Town of Chautauqua.

     She loved her family of four sons and their families: Paul and Donna of Mayville; Gary and Darene of Catawba, SC; Dale and Janet of Mayville; Wade and Laurie of Fredonia along with grandchildren: Leia (Jessie) Paddleford; Luke (Sarah) Weatherlow; Douglas (Kelsey) Wells; Daniel (Jennifer) Wells; Heather (Scott) Duncan; Brian (Kristy) Shepard; Steven Shepard; Holly (Sean) Potter; Ryan (Morgan) McChesney; Zachary Weatherlow; William (Jessica) Weatherlow; Robert Weatherlow; Stephanie Weatherlow. She is also blessed with 17 great grandchildren. In addition, she had her companion cat, Tiger.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis L. Weatherlow who she married July 13, 1950 who died May 25, 1996; a grandson, Joshua McChesney on December 6, 2008.

     Memorial donations may be made to the Mayville Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad or Mayville United Methodist Church.

     Visitation will be Tuesday, September 8th from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with memorial service at 11:00 AM at Freay Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Parsons will officiate. Private burial to follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.
