Lenona “Nonie” Andrea Felps went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at her home in Blanco, surrounded by the love of her family, on September 21, 2025. Lenona was born on May 8, 1940, in the Historic Blanco Courthouse to Josie Viola (Glenn) Neill and Thomas Terry Neill. Lenona spent all of her formative years at Blanco ISD, graduating in the Class of 1958. She excelled academically as a student and enjoyed participating in Future Homemakers of America, as well as serving as Fall Festival Queen and FFA Sweetheart during her senior year. Lenona married her high school sweetheart, Jack Felps, on January 31, 1959. She attended the Durham Business School in Austin after they married, then soon began building their life in Blanco. She and Jack were blessed with two sons, Kirk Lacy and Colby Ray.
Lenona spent time in the home raising her children, then later was employed by Blanco ISD in the administration office and the United States Postal Service in Blanco. Retiring in 2000 from the postal service, Lenona and Jack enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Lenona found her faith in the love of Christ in early childhood as a member of the Blanco Church of Christ in Blanco. Her unwavering trust guided her path for a life well lived as a faithful servant in Christ. Lenona served her church as a Sunday school teacher and volunteered in her community by serving Lunches of Love, Meals on Wheels, and the Good Samaritan Center. She was also an active member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Lenona spent many hours traveling to extracurricular activities for her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook, garden, and play games, and although she was a fair-skinned redhead, she enjoyed outdoor activities with her family.
Lenona is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jack Felps; her parents, Viola and Thomas Neill; and her sister, Lois Neill Ewald. She is survived by her sons, Kirk Felps (Sheila) and Colby Felps (Natalie); six grandchildren, Calen McNett (Maddie), Ky McNett (Karli), Cade, Kinley, Kendall, and Cassidy; seven great-grandchildren, Crae, Cal, Mace, Cort, Hayden, Weston and Logan; sisters, Margaret Neill Weidner (Jerrol) and Cindy Neill Graham (Bret); brother, Terry Neill (Sandy). She was also loved by numerous nieces and nephews.
Lenona, affectionately known by many as either Nonie, GiGi, or Granny, will be remembered for her kindness, tough love, honesty, and her love for the word of Christ.
